Robert Half Staff Accountant in Aurora, Colorado

Description

Robert Half is partnering with a company in Aurora seeking a Staff Accountant to join its growing team! The primary role of the Accountant is to manage the overall accounting functions for the professional electrical systems contracting firm. Tasked with developing and maintaining best practice related to accounts payable, receivable, budgets, and forecasting, along with financial statement preparation and corporate tax review in support of corporate goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day accounts payable and receivable staff

  • Direct and maintain cash management reporting, P& L project reporting, and business reporting as needed

  • Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files as well as reconciling accounts

  • Prepares payments by accruing expenses as needed

  • Develop and drive the use of departmental forecasting and budgeting

  • Develop and implement best practice accounting procedures as needed

  • Oversee the weekly payroll process and required reporting

  • Work closely with internal business divisions, external customers and top management to manage and maintain all required business project reporting and sales/billing activities

  • Respond to accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data

  • Analyze information and options by developing spreadsheet reports as needed

  • Provide reporting, KPI updates and metric data related to indices as assigned

  • Prepare consolidated internal and external financial statements, and develop corporate tax review in conjunction with outside tax accounting agencies

    Requirements

  • Functional knowledge of accounting, with proven track record/experience

  • Understanding of the use of technology tools that enable accounting functions and reporting, along with collaboration with external stakeholders

  • Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking

  • Strong mathematical / analytical abilities

  • Strong time management and organizational skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office/Excel

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related Finance field required.
