Robert Half Accounts Payable/ Payroll Manager in Austin, Texas


Robert Half is looking to staff an AP/Payroll Manager with our well-respected client! This Accounts Payable/Payroll Manager will be responsible for work on tax-related tasks, such as W2 forms, preparing reports and updating policies, and will help achieve standards that are necessary for growth within the financial department. Your responsibilities

  • Handle payroll tax audits and collaborate with auditors

  • Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems

  • Abide by relevant laws and internal policies

  • Resolve issues and answer payroll-related questions

  • Supervise and coach payroll and accounts payable clerks and assistants

  • Oversee processing of payroll changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, raises) and system upgrades

  • Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams

  • Manage full cycle Accounts Payable processing

  • Develop systems to process AP and payroll account transactions (e.g., salaries, invoicing, checks, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes and third-party payments)


  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills

  • 3+ years of payroll experience and 5+ years of accounts payable experience

  • Knowledge of multiple payroll applications

  • 2+ years of proven leadership experience as a payroll manager or similar role

  • Strong understanding of compliance

  • Knowledge of multi-location payroll and taxes

  • CPP, CPM, or other related professional certifications is a plus

  • Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws

  • Comfortable with handling confidential business matters and information with discretion

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field
