Robert Half Accounts Payable Specialist in Austin, Texas

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a meticulous and deadline-driven Accounts Payable Specialist in Austin, Texas. This role is in the retail industry, where you will be responsible for processing a high volume of invoices, managing vendor relationships, and handling inventory. You will also need to be proficient in various accounting software systems and have a solid understanding of debits and credits to excel in this role.

Key responsibilities:

• Process a large volume of invoices on a weekly basis, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of debits and credits to oversee the bigger picture of the company's financial health

• Manage vendor relationships, ensuring timely payments to maintain inventory flow

• Utilize various accounting software systems, including Great Plains, IBM AS/400, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, and Microsoft Excel

• Handle inventory, including auditing Bill of Lading (BOL) when received from the store, ensuring BOL matches inventory for location, and matching BOL to invoice

• Perform data entry tasks, including dumping data from a proprietary system into an Excel CSV file before uploading it to the current in-house accounting system

• Code data in CSV files before uploading to the system, with each retail store being its own cost center

• Perform month-end duties, including reconciling accounts payable before it goes for review

• Handle vendor management, maintaining relationships with a large list of vendors

• Display initiative and team player attributes, while also possessing a customer-facing personality to answer questions from store managers. Requirements • Must possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in Accounts Payable or a related role in a retail environment

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required

• Prior experience with Great Plains (GPAC), IBM AS/400, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is highly desirable

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

• Demonstrated understanding of accounting functions

• Experience in Accounts Payable (AP) processes and procedures

• Familiarity with check processing

• Strong data entry skills with attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to resolve discrepancies in financial reports and statements

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
