In this role, the Staff Accountant is in charge of preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, various aspects of internal reporting will be under your responsibility. Lend your skills towards developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Located in the Austin, Texas area, this position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work.
Periodic maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries
Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls while ensuring that accounting procedures comply with GAAP
Play a part in a variety of department-wide initiatives
Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Prepare monthly financial close workbooks to support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process
Ad hoc reporting and performing special projects upon request
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Manage schedules for monthly payments and capital lease
In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts
Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management
Organize and review various financial data, then report it in a manner that is useful and understandable
Produce journal entries and perform the month end close under minimal supervision
Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation Requirements - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Current and relevant ERP system experience
Critical thinking skills and the ability to retain complex work directions
Knowledge of accruals
Comprehensive knowledge of month end closings
Accounts Payable (AP) experience
Foundational knowledge in Expense Allocation
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
