Robert Half Staff Accountant in Austin, Texas
Description We are offering a contract opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Austin, Texas, 78735, United States. This role is within the finance industry and requires the successful candidate to work closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, and Accounting Close activities. The Staff Accountant will also be required to interact with external vendors and customers, facilitate meetings with cross-functional business partners, and participate in various ad-hoc and special projects to streamline and standardize accounting processes and internal controls.
Responsibilities:
• Work with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to maintain accurate financial records
• Handle Inventory and Accounting Close activities as part of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close activities
• Prepare journal entries, fluctuation analyses, key reconciliations, and roll forwards
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results in accordance with US GAAP and global accounting policies
• Interact with external vendors and customers in a professional manner
• Facilitate meetings with cross-functional business partners to obtain necessary information to record transactions accurately and completely
• Assist in quarterly reviews and annual audits, ensuring compliance with global accounting policies, processes, procedures, and internal controls
• Identify and implement process improvements and automations to reduce time to close and improve accuracy of underlying accounting records
• Manage vendor relationships and work with multiple vendors to streamline processes
• Participate in month-end close activities, including preparing month-end journal entries and reports, conducting monthly account reconciliation, managing monthly accruals, and maintaining the monthly balance sheet. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) operations including entering vendor invoices and maintaining vendor files
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple external vendor relationships
• Solid understanding of Accounts Receivable (AR) processes
• Experience in performing month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and reports
• Ability to conduct monthly account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation
• Experience in managing monthly accruals and billing processes
• Knowledge of monthly bank reconciliation procedures
• Familiarity with monthly close processes and monthly closings
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Professional certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) would be advantageous
• Prior experience in a similar role is preferred.
