The ideal candidate for this position can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and effectively lead departmental staff. In this role, it will be critical for you to lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services.

Your responsibilities

  • Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports

  • Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis

  • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

  • Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations

  • Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

    Requirements

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Previous experience in public accounting, law firm, or professional services setting is highly valued

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • Strong communication skills and able to receive criticism well

  • Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines

  • High attention to detail

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
