Robert Half Collections Specialist in Baltimore, Maryland
Description
We are looking for a Collections Specialist in the Financial Services industry. The role involves the execution of collection duties, maintaining appropriate customer records, and handling customer inquiries. This role will contribute significantly to the management of delinquent, bankrupt, legal, and charged-off loans, as well as maintaining the quality and volume of departmental goals. Responsibilities:
• Handle collection efforts on delinquent loans ranging from 16-149 days
• Engage with customers to understand the reason for delinquency and strategize solutions to bring the accounts current
• Utilize resources such as extension agreements, re-age, or collection maneuvers to assist customers in resolving their delinquent status
• Maintain a complete loan file on each delinquent loan worked, ensuring accurate tracking and record keeping
• Collaborate with the collection manager and provide weekly updates on individual queue status
• Monitor and follow-up on loans that are in an active intent to repossess status
• Handle a high volume of incoming calls, balancing with making outbound collection calls
• Review loan files and collection system to ensure all documents are in order and maintain proper documentation of collection work in the collection system
• Assist in training of employees within the department if requested by the collection’s manager
Requirements
• Proven experience in a Collections Specialist role or similar position within the financial services industry for at least three years
• Solid understanding and hands-on experience with the Accounts Receivable (AR) process
• Demonstrable knowledge of collection processes and best practices
• Experience with consumer collections and ability to handle high-volume outbound collection activities
• Familiarity with skip tracing techniques and tools to locate delinquent customers
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information discreetly
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Willingness to comply with all laws and regulatory requirements
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
