Robert Half Litigation Legal Administrative Assistant in BALTIMORE, Maryland

Description Legal Assistants directly support lawyers and may be required to supervise other legal staff, such as legal secretaries or file clerks.The ideal Legal Assistant will have sound technical and computer knowledge as well as excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills.Some law firms prefer three to five years of legal experience in a law firm or other corporate legal department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform computer database input and retrieval

  • Electronically categorize files

  • Make sure copies are valid next to the originals

  • Set up correspondence and memorandum

  • Store documents and assemble data as directed by lawyers and paralegals

  • Scan and retrieve electronic documents from a variety of court and agency web sites

  • Scan and photocopy documents

  • Maintain word processing, filing and faxing

  • Lead the research of legal issues and investigative tasks, which may include collecting information and documents from external parties, as needed

  • Matter management, record keeping, etc Requirements - Organizing and tracking files for important transactions or case documents, including pleadings and voluminous discovery documents; creating and maintaining a case-management database

  • Experience assisting lawyers in preparing for transactional closings, depositions, hearings, trials and conferences; completing many administrative tasks, including, working on individual cases or transactions

  • Investigating the factual evidence of a transaction or case and preparing exhibits, charts and diagrams to display information

  • Conducting routine discovery

  • Drafting legal court documents, such as pleadings, motions, affidavits and subpoenas; transactional documents, such as trusts, wills, contracts and real estate leases; and closing documents

  • Well-founded grasp of Microsoft Excel

  • Schedule Depositions experience

  • Expertise in e-Filing

  • Proficiency in Calendar Management

  • Schedule Appointments experience highly desired

  • Commercial Litigation experience desired

  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft Word

  • 3+ years of previous legal work experience and a dedication to integrity
