Robert Half International Senior Accountant (Non-Profit) in Baltimore, Maryland

You will succeed in this Senior Grant Accountant position if you can prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. This role's duties also include internal reporting during the monthly close, grant accounting for restricted and non-restricted funds, participating in compliance, interacting with our external auditors, and reviewing month-end closing schedules. Looking for someone with a strong work ethic that can adhere to meeting deadlines, and willing to be a team player and pitch in where is needed. In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts
Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision
Preparation of monthly financial reporting
Track grant spending and allocated / distribute costs appropriately
Collaborate with Grants Manager on regulatory obligations and compliance
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures
Manage depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Analyze payroll reports on a bi-weekly basis for proper allocation
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
5+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience (non-profit, grants, or affordable housing)
Expertise in general ledger and GAAP accounting
Solid understanding of Foundation Grants
Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
