Located in the Baltimore, Maryland area, this long-term contract / temporary to hire position is an engaging, multi-faceted opportunity where hard work is rewarded. In this role, the Staff Accountant holds responsibility for preparing monthly and year-end closings, fixed asset maintenance, journal entries, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, your will also be in charge of many aspects of internal reporting. In addition, your responsibilities include communicating with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, playing an active role in compliance, and reviewing schedules for the reporting processes.
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management
Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner
Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision Requirements - Microsoft Excel experience highly desired
Knowledge of account reconciliation
Foundational knowledge in Review Journal Entries
Well-founded grasp of Abila MIP
Proven knowledge of Pivot Table
Month end closings experience desired
Skilled in analytical, quantitative and social skills
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Current and relevant ERP system experience
Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Vow to meet business deadlines
Detailed and have the ability work independently
3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
