Robert Half Staff Accountant in Baltimore, Maryland
Description Robert Half is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant with terrific organizational skills to take up a long-term contract / temporary position at a growing company in the Non-Profit industry. As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. You will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will assist in developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This very involved position works to produce Cash Flow projections, Financial Statements, and Budgets. How you will make an impact
Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner
Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed Requirements
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Journal entries experience
Auditing experience highly desired
Deep understanding of reconciliations
Accounts Receivable (AR) experience
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Billing experience preferred
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Critical thinking skills and the ability to retain complex work directions
Skilled with ERP systems
3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
