Description Robert Half Finance has a client in the Manufacturing industry seeking an ambitious, enthusiastic Controller to join their esteemed company. The leadership position is responsible for an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, manages the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, analyzes accounting and internal control systems, and guides departmental staff. This full-time position is for a Controller who will work in the Beatrice, Nebraska region.
Your responsibilities in this role
Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed Requirements - Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
Exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Solid understanding of financial statement preparation
Expertise in month end closings
