Robert Half Accounts Payable Manager in Bedford, Texas

Description

  • Manage a team of accounts payable staff across multiple entities and locations.

  • Strong knowledge of A/P practices, general office procedures, and accounting policies and processes include maintaining vendor files; routing for approval, review, and coding invoices; perform check runs; application of debit memos; vendor inquiries; managing aged payables.

  • Expertise in process standardization and improvement and ability to implement, as necessary.

  • Lead the implementation of 3rd party integrated software solutions for Purchasing and AP.

  • Lead and develop strategy for paperless processing and design key performance indicators to track A/P business performance.

  • Coordinate month-end close including the reconciliation of A/P to General Ledger and ensure all invoices and accruals are processed within established deadlines. Timely research issues relating to aged and open invoices.

  • Standardize efforts of key processes within the vendor maintenance area.

  • Manage accounts payable staff by directing work, providing ongoing training, mentoring, coaching, and performance management.

  • Manage all credit card programs including authorizing credit cards and assuring timely approval and coding of transactions.

  • Work closely with entire AP Group to improve upon timeliness and efficiencies.

  • Enforce strict compliance to internal controls and adherence to company policies.

  • Provide timely customer service for all calls, emails, and questions from vendors, internal and external customers while meeting or exceeding department service level agreements.

  • Assist Senior Tax Compliance Accountant in the review of sales tax reporting for multiple states and assist with sales and use tax audits.

  • Work directly with Senior Management on a regular basis to address accounting issues within critical accounts while taking direct ownership and responsibility over the accounts payable department.

  • Conduct full cycle review of accounts payable processes and amend or create procedures to include documented SOP.

  • Maintain vendor tax data for processing of annual 1099 forms.

  • Assist audit team with external auditor requests and tax preparers to provide requested information in an accurate and timely manner

    Requirements

o Advanced Excel skills required, including the ability to use V-lookups and pivot tables.

o Ability to accomplish difficult tasks with minimal oversight and maintain a consistent level of accuracy in all assigned areas. High attention to detail and accuracy

o Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to present solutions to difficult accounting problems

o Excellent communication, problem-solving and follow-up skills

o Capable of identifying business risks and process inefficiencies, with proven ability to plan and execute process improvements to mitigate such risks and inefficiencies, particularly by leveraging systems and automation

o Ability to solving multiple and complex challenges through critical thinking and cross-functional collaboration. Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead a team.

o Demonstrated skill in handling fast paced and often competing pressures on one's time.

o Confidentiality is required.

o Ability to learn new software tools quickly.
