Robert Half Payroll Clerk in Bensenville, Illinois

Description We are looking for a Payroll Clerk to join our team in Bensenville, Illinois. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for managing payroll functions for a multi-state workforce of 150 employees, as well as handling a portion of accounting functions. This role is integral to ensuring the timely and accurate payment of wages and benefits to our employees, and maintaining compliance with various labor laws and company policies.

Responsibilities:

• Gain and maintain thorough knowledge of company policies and practices related to payroll, accounts payable, expense reimbursement, and purchasing to ensure consistent application and compliance.

• Develop an understanding of payroll and ERP systems as needed to perform tasks.

• Coordinate, prepare and process payroll (US and international) in an accurate, timely and compliant manner.

• Stay updated with labor laws to ensure compliance with payroll requirements.

• Review and reconcile periodic payroll tax filings.

• Assist with accounts payable tasks such as processing vendor invoices and payment requests, employee expense reimbursements, corporate credit card transactions, and entering related information in the ERP system.

• Reconcile vendor statements to processed invoices and assist with resolving discrepancies.

• Maintain vendor information in the ERP system.

• Collaborate and communicate effectively with employees and external contacts as needed.

• Make recommendations for workflow and process improvements.

• Perform administrative and other duties as assigned. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role or related field.

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems.

• Experience with ADP - Financial Services is preferred.

• Familiarity with Ceridian, IBM AS/400, and Kronos Timekeeping System is an asset.

• Knowledge and proficiency in About Time software.

• Strong understanding of accounting functions.

• Experience in Accounts Payable (AP) management.

• Experience in managing benefit functions.

• Proficiency in check processing.

• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Problem-solving skills and the ability to make well-judged decisions.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
