Job Description:

[Non-Profit Name] is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Temporary Resident Advocate to join our team in Berkeley. This role involves working closely with homeless populations to provide support, advocacy, and access to essential services. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Services:

  • Provide emotional support and guidance to homeless individuals.

  • Assist clients in navigating community resources and services.

  • Resource Coordination:

  • Connect clients with essential services such as healthcare, legal aid, employment assistance, and educational programs.

  • Help clients apply for government assistance programs, housing benefits, and other financial aid.

  • Case Management:

  • Develop and maintain case files for clients, documenting their needs, progress, and any services provided.

  • Conduct regular check-ins with clients to monitor their well-being and address any new issues that arise.

  • Advocacy:

  • Act as a liaison between clients and service providers, ensuring clients' voices are heard and their needs are met.

  • Advocate for clients' rights and work to resolve any issues or disputes with landlords, service providers, or other parties.

  • Community Building:

  • Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and events to foster a sense of community and provide educational opportunities.

  • Encourage client participation in community activities and decision-making processes.

  • Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of interactions with clients and services provided.

  • Prepare reports and documentation required by the organization or funding agencies.

  • Education and Outreach:

  • Educate clients about their rights, available resources, and how to access them.

  • Conduct outreach to inform clients about new programs, services, or initiatives.

  • Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other staff members, volunteers, and community partners to coordinate services and support for clients.

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of programs and strategies to better serve the community.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a social services or advocacy role, preferably working with homeless populations.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
