Robert Half Legal Secretary in Berkeley, California

Description

We are looking to identify a Legal Secretary for a defense firm based in Alameda County. The ideal candidate will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, where they will be responsible for preparing legal documents, managing court dates and deadlines, and maintaining client case files. This role will also involve conducting legal research under attorney supervision and facilitating communication with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, legal responses, and briefs

• Handle all court or administrative agency filing duties, adhering to established timelines

• Manage calendars, track court dates, and timely inform the legal team about upcoming deadlines

• Assist in the collection, assembly, and organization of legal materials and records

• Conduct legal research under the supervision of the attorney

• Facilitate communication and correspondence with the clients, courts, and opposing counsel

• Maintain client's case files adequately, ensuring easy retrieval when needed

• Utilize skills in e-Filing, Civil Litigation, Docketing, Defense Litigation, and Preparing Pleadings to effectively fulfill responsibilities

• Assist in Discovery process as needed

Requirements • Possess a minimum of 5 years' experience as a Legal Secretary

• Proficient in e-Filing systems and protocols

• Demonstrated experience in Civil Litigation

• Proficient in docketing, managing and organizing legal documents

• Experience in Defense Litigation

• Proficient in preparing pleadings and other legal documents

• Experience in managing legal discovery processes

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

• Familiarity with legal terminologies and procedures.
