Description

We are seeking a Medical Billing Specialist for a 6-month contract position with our healthcare client. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely submission of invoices, answering questions from patients, providers, and insurance companies, and collaborating with our team. Attention to detail and a familiarity with medical terminology, insurance procedures, healthcare laws and regulations regarding medical billing are essential.

Responsibilities:

· Verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors.

· Prepare itemized statements, bills, or invoices and record amounts due for services rendered.

· Issue invoices and bills to patients, insurance providers, or designated departments.

· Review documents such as purchase orders, or hospital records to compute fees and charges due.

· Follow applicable insurance guidelines and legal requirements in medical billing processes.

· Maintain up-to-date patient records, regularly verifying and updating data such as home address, contact information, and insurance details.

· Collaborate with insurance companies for obtaining information and resolving discrepancies.

· Communicate with patients regarding billing issues and inquiry to clarify information and to update records.

Requirements

· Degree or certification in Medical Billing/Coding or similar field preferred.

· Previous experience in medical billing or a related field needed.

· Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare laws concerning medical billing.

· Proficient computer skills including navigating electronic medical records system.

· Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving and time management skills.

· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

· Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality.

· ICD-10: 1 year (Preferred)
