Based in the Beverly Hills, California area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. You might be a good fit for this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. This position is for candidates who can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Key responsibilities

  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports

  • Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

  • Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team

  • Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis

  • Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities

    Requirements - Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

  • Prior work done in public accounting is desired

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Solid understanding of financial statement preparation

  • Yardi experience preferred

  • Month end closings experience preferred

  • Strong familiarity with MRI

  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail

  • Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

  • Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
