Robert Half Controller in Bingham Farms, Michigan

Description

We are looking for a Controller to join our client's team in Bingham Farms, Michigan. This role is crucial to our accounting and financial operations within the telecom industry. The Controller will be responsible for maintaining and enforcing accounting policies, managing accounting staff, overseeing the operations of the accounting department, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Implement and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

• Manage all accounting staff and any outsourced accounting functions

• Oversee the operations of the accounting department, ensuring the business achieves goals and objectives

• Oversee accounting operations of subsidiaries, including control systems, transaction operations, and policies and procedures

• Ensure accurate accounting books are maintained according to GAAP

• Oversee the preparation and distribution of customer invoices on a timely basis

• Ensure customer collections are kept current and vendor payments are recorded accurately and paid on time

• Ensure necessary tax returns are submitted on a timely basis and taxes paid when due

• Ensure payroll and compensation payments to employees are made in an accurate and timely manner

• Participate in company leadership meetings and initiatives

• Ensure that the financial portion of the long-term and annual financial plans reflect the operating plans of the business

• Take the lead in interpreting and analyzing financial plans and projections

• Prepare managerial reports that keep company executives up to date on important financial and operational matters.

Requirements • Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position

• Proficient in Accounting Software Systems and ADP - Financial Services

• Familiar with DCAA regulations and requirements

• Experience with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions

• Demonstrable expertise in accounting functions

• Experience in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Skilled in auditing processes and procedures

• Familiarity with budget processes and full cycle accounting

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required

• Professional certification such as CMA or CPA is preferred.
