Robert Half Accounts Payable Specialist in Birmingham, Alabama
Description
We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist located in Birmingham, Alabama. This role will be based in a traditional office setting and will involve managing a high volume of invoices daily, working with accounting software, and handling various accounts payable tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately process expense invoices and Purchase Order (PO) invoices daily.
• Conduct three-way matching for receipts, PO, and invoices.
• Regularly communicate with the purchasing department to ensure smooth operations.
• Use the SAP software for various accounting functions.
• Handle bank reporting tasks as and when required.
• Prepare for check runs and ensure they are ready for execution.
• Utilize the auto indexing feature for efficient management of tasks.
• Ensure accurate credit records for customers are maintained.
• Monitor customer accounts regularly and take appropriate actions when necessary.
• Address vendor and employee inquiries promptly and ensure credit is received for outstanding memos.
• Accurately reconcile vendor's monthly statements.
• Determine open vouchers and ensure all period-related vouchers are posted prior to the Accounts Payable close.
• Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements
• Proficiency in accounting software systems
• Knowledge of accounting functions, particularly Accounts Payable (AP)
• Ability to understand and apply accrual accounting principles
• Familiarity with Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions
• Must have experience with SAP software
• Experience in handling purchase orders
• Expertise in account coding
• Prior experience in the wholesale distribution industry is a plus
