Description

Responsibilities held by the Staff Accountant include the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position will require a fair amount of time dedicated to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you'll also be charged with various aspects of internal reporting. You'll also review schedules for the reporting processes, stay in touch with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and play an active role in compliance.

Major responsibilities

  • Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments

  • Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

  • Maintain monthly payment schedules

  • Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

  • Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management

  • Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision

    Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail

  • Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

  • Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

  • Adjusting Journal Entries experience

  • Month end closings experience required

  • Foundational knowledge in Annual Budget

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • ERP system experience

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
