We are in search of a diligent Staff Accountant in HARTFORD, Connecticut, to join our team in the municipality industry. This role primarily revolves around handling accounting and bookkeeping functions, offering an opportunity to be part of a dynamic workplace undergoing significant restructuring.

Responsibilities:

• Handle routine accounting tasks, including journal entries, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and bank reconciliations

• Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting

• Maintain and update the general ledger to reflect the company's financial transactions accurately

• Leverage Microsoft Excel to analyze financial data and prepare reports

• Assist in maintaining financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded

• Ensure the integrity of accounting information by verifying and consolidating activities

• Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends

• Leverage your knowledge of QuickBooks, ADS, and Munis to streamline and improve accounting processes

• Participate in the ongoing restructuring and changes within the finance department

• Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field is preferred

• Possess at least one year of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar position

• Demonstrated proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations

• Familiarity with General Ledger management

• Proven ability to prepare and analyze Journal Entries

• Experience with Month End Close procedures

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel

• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Knowledge of accounting principles and best practices

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
