Robert Half Accounting Manager/Supervisor in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan
Description
Seeking an experienced Accounting Manager who will be primarily responsible for month and quarter end responsibilities, without overseeing a staff. The successful candidate will have a strong background in real estate accounting for publicly traded companies, with a knack for ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage all general ledger activity, ensuring accuracy and timeliness with regards to accounting entries.
Prepare, review and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and supplemental schedules.
Continually monitor accounting policies, procedures, reserves, and estimates for compliance with GAAP.
Manage month-end and quarter-end closing activities, as well as financial reporting processes, ensuring completion in an accurate and timely manner.
Conduct regular reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts, resolving any discrepancies promptly.
Interface with external auditors and provide needed information for the annual audit.
Perform variance analyses, account and bank reconciliations.
Handle confidential information in a professional and trustworthy manner.
Assist in new system implementations to ensure compliance with accounting regulations and principles.
Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required. A CPA designation is strongly preferred.
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a publicly traded real estate organization.
In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and SEC regulations.
Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
Proficiency in accounting software, Excel and other MS Office applications.
Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing effectively to meet deadlines.
Excellent problem-solving skills and strong ability to think strategically about business problems.
