Robert Half Accounting Manager/Supervisor in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan

Description

Seeking an experienced Accounting Manager who will be primarily responsible for month and quarter end responsibilities, without overseeing a staff. The successful candidate will have a strong background in real estate accounting for publicly traded companies, with a knack for ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all general ledger activity, ensuring accuracy and timeliness with regards to accounting entries.

  • Prepare, review and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and supplemental schedules.

  • Continually monitor accounting policies, procedures, reserves, and estimates for compliance with GAAP.

  • Manage month-end and quarter-end closing activities, as well as financial reporting processes, ensuring completion in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Conduct regular reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts, resolving any discrepancies promptly.

  • Interface with external auditors and provide needed information for the annual audit.

  • Perform variance analyses, account and bank reconciliations.

  • Handle confidential information in a professional and trustworthy manner.

  • Assist in new system implementations to ensure compliance with accounting regulations and principles.

  • Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required. A CPA designation is strongly preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a publicly traded real estate organization.

  • In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and SEC regulations.

  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in accounting software, Excel and other MS Office applications.

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing effectively to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong ability to think strategically about business problems.
