Robert Half has an opening for a Full Charge Bookkeeper that might be just what you're looking for. Based in and around Troy, Michigan, the Full Charge Bookkeeper role is a long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity. The most successful candidate for this position will be able to establish and maintain the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives, as well as handle all general accounting and bookkeeping functions, including the preparation of financial statements.

Key responsibilities

  • Handling processing tasks for accounts payable and accounts receivable, including collections

  • Preserving historical records through accurate filing of documents

  • Preparing the trial balance and financial statements, including balance sheet and statements regarding income and cash flows

  • Ensuring monthly, quarterly and year end close happens accurately and on time

  • Studying and adhering to federal, state, and local legal requirements, filing reports, and detailing needed actions to management

  • Handling reconciliations for bank and general ledgers, and processing payroll

  • Supervising accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers

  • Tracking fixed assets and preparing depreciation schedules

    Requirements - Quickbooks and Peachtree experience desired

  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel

  • Strong familiarity with Full Charge Bookkeeping

  • Practical knowledge of account analysis

  • Adeptness in journal entries

  • Account reconciliation experience highly preferred

  • General familiarity with Corporate Tax Return

  • Credit Card Reconciliation experience preferred

  • Bank Account Reconciliation experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial statement preparation

  • Quickbooks Online experience

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks to prioritize needs and expedite tasks upon request

  • High school diploma or comparable diploma with an AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business preferred

  • Capable of working independently with minimal oversight

  • Previous experience with payroll preferred

  • Competence with financial data analysis and report generation that is prompt and accurate

  • Be creative, adaptive, and eager to learn new technical skill sets

  • A deep understanding of accrual and cash basis of accounting

  • 3+ years of bookkeeping experience

  • Highly organized, attentive, has a sense of urgency, flexible and able to deal with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
