Robert Half Assistant Controller in Boca Raton, Florida

Description

The Assistant Controller will support the Controller in managing the company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting and processes. This role involves overseeing daily accounting activities, assisting with month-end and year-end closings, and contributing to process improvements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and skilled in managing multi-entity financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting Oversight:

  • Supervise day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.

  • Oversee and reconcile intercompany transactions (if applicable).

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

  • Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.

Compliance and Controls:

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.

  • Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls and audit readiness.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency and accuracy.

  • Update and maintain accounting policies and procedures.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Mentor and guide junior accounting staff.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and financial planning.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA designation is preferred.

  • Experience:

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.

  • Experience in a multi-entity or corporate environment (preferred).

  • Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage) and advanced Excel skills.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication and leadership abilities.

  • Familiarity with cash-based and accrual-based accounting practices.
