Description
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant with a background in nonprofit or religious organizations, who is proficient in QuickBooks. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial management, and reporting standards specific to the nonprofit sector. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, exceptional analytical abilities, and a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial practices.
Responsibilities:
General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, vendor management, and timely collections.
Bank Reconciliation: Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial transactions and monitor cash flow.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for management and board review.
Posting Donations: Record and reconcile incoming donations, ensuring accurate posting to the appropriate accounts and donor records.
Grant Management: Track and report on grant funding, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and timely submission of financial reports.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting regulations, nonprofit reporting requirements, and tax laws.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with finance team members and other departments to support organizational goals and initiatives.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of progressive accounting experience, within a nonprofit or religious organization.
Proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software is required; experience with nonprofit accounting software (e.g., Blackbaud, Sage Intacct) is a plus.
Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, fund accounting, and grant management.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify trends.
Solid knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting standards.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial information.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges and implementing solutions.
