Description Robert Half is looking for a Senior Accountant for a client in the western suburbs. The Sr. Accountant reports directly to the Accounting Manager, assisting in the maintenance of all financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. This position also works closely with the accounting department and other functional areas and locations. This position requires the ability to work in a team environment, make decisions within the scope of authority, an organized approach to work, meet firm deadlines, communicate effectively, and provide technical assistance to other teams as needed.

Principle Responsibilities:

Cost Accounting, monthly financial closing duties including: Standard journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, audit of shipping and receiving for proper cut-off, review inventory, WIP, and profit margins on product lines, inter-company tie-out, preparing Cost of Poor Quality figures, and verifying monthly orders, backlog, sales, and cost of sales.

Adhere to the month-end checklist and all compliance requirements.

Prepare weekly reporting for Business Leadership/Operations (Sales, COS, Labor Utilization, Inventory Analysis).

Calculate Excess and Obsolete inventory reserves.

Maintain fixed assets and perform annual fixed asset audit.

Complete vendor master file changes.

Assist with annual physical inventory.

Preparation of annual corporate tax package and R& D tax credit.

Assist in annual SOX Compliance Audit.

Prepare Internal Audit requests and self-testing.

Prepare Unclaimed Property updates/submissions.

Prepare royalty and warranty calculations.

Back-up System Administrator for Travel Card program.

Other duties as assigned.

Successful Senior Accountant will have:

BA degree in Accounting required, Master's Degree preferred.

Minimum of 3 – 5 years of accounting experience; Experience in Manufacturing Industry preferred.

Advanced level Excel skills required.

Excellent attention to detail.

Experience with Hyperion HFM and/or Cognos preferred.

High sense of urgency and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Customer-focused mindset and an innate ability to respond to customers’ expectations and requirements.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines.

• Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations.

• Ability to handle general ledger tasks and journal entries.

• Proficient in using Microsoft Excel for financial reporting and data analysis.

• Experience in cost accounting and understanding of manufacturing costing methods.

• Able to perform month-end close tasks efficiently and accurately.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

• Professional certification such as CPA is a plus.

• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.
