Robert Half Cost Accountant in Bowling Green, Ohio
Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Cost Accountant in the specialty produce industry, based in Bowling Green, Ohio. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing all inventory costing accounting functions, including production cost reporting and measurement, and analysis of key costing metrics. This role necessitates regular communication with production teams and plant leadership.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze and report on inventory adjustments, contributing to the development of comprehensive inventory analysis reports
• Conduct tests on labor and other costing standards, ensuring accurate and efficient costing practices
• Collaborate with production teams to address and resolve daily variances, processing and finalizing daily production work orders
• Oversee the verification and analysis of standard costs, including Bills of Materials
• Evaluate changes in product design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to assess their impacts
• Prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs, providing valuable insights into manufacturing expenses
• Update costs in the master inventory system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date pricing data
• Create formula codes for all products/recipes, contributing to accurate costing and pricing
• Present issues regarding production costs vs sell price to the business, assisting in strategic decision-making
• Balance sales margin vs production variances, ensuring optimal profitability
• Inform management of negative sales margin codes and new codes to determine pricing, aiding in effective pricing strategies
• Conduct Yield Testing for new product codes and updating existing ones, ensuring accurate and efficient product costing. Requirements
• Applicant must hold a minimum of 2 years of experience in a Product Cost Accounting role.
• Proficiency in Cost Accounting is a mandatory requirement.
• Mastery in Standard Cost Accounting is necessary for the role.
• Experience in Inventory Analysis is a key requirement.
• The candidate should possess strong skills in Financial Analysis.
• Knowledge and hands-on experience with the General Ledger is essential.
