The Tax Accountant will assist in tax reporting compliance activities as they relate to PEO level reporting regulatory requirements. The person in this position will be knowledgeable in payroll tax returns, payroll tax, audit tax records, respond to internal/external inquiries regarding tax compliance, and assist in ensuring PEO tax accounts are compliant through the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES · Calculate Covid-19 payroll tax credits using customized excel tools for Cares Act Retention Tax Credits, FFCRA tax credits. · Calculate IRS Path Act Tax Credits. Ability to use an Access Database is preferred but not required. · Reconciliations/true ups of the credits to ensure the customer received the proper amount of tax credits. · Respond to Salesforce cases and provide customer analysis for the tax credits. · Calculate Forms 941, 941 Worksheet, Schedule R to report employers quarterly federal tax returns using the customized excel tools used for the tax credits. · Coordinate electronic filing of tax returns (including amendments) on behalf of PEO’s, following up with governmental agencies as needed. · Analyze data at quarter/year end for accuracy and document as required for SOX controls and organizational requirements. · Ability to answer client’s questions regarding Federal (including tax credits), State, and local tax issues through direct contact with customers using Salesforce, emails, and phone calls. · Respond to client and team emails and manage internal/external Salesforce cases within the department policy timeline guidelines. · Audit client tax detail and provided changes to required teams for updates. · Communicate payroll tax issues both orally and written with internal teams and clients. Requirements · Tech savvy both hardware and software utilized in remote work environment. · Ability to conceptualize and mentally recognize dependent steps in a process. · Demonstrated ability to self-direct and maintain focus on tasks. · Analytical thinking process including research to resolve data variances. · Time-management skills and being available as needed. · Ability to understand and retain information with audio and visual input. · Ability to take direction and follow verbal instructions. · Understand that this is a dynamic process and the interaction between payroll law changes, finance guidance which require the ability to pivot with any/all resulting changes. · Excellence in attitude, being a team player demonstrating empathy for our customers and team members with the ability to thrive in a group working environment. · Understanding of Federal payroll and payroll taxes. · Passion for detail, recognize, adhere to, and implement as needed standardization in responses, verbiage, detail oriented presentation. · Practical implementation of standard business etiquette and highest standards of ethics. · Willingness to train other team members and patiently share accumulated knowledge. · Positive attitude, dependable, accountable. · Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. · Superior customer service skills. Customer focused when servicing clients and colleagues. · Consistent and sustained quality in data entry and ability to meet deadlines. · Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment. · High commitment to detail oriented ethical standards, a diverse workplace, and confidentiality. · Ability to adapt to a fast paced continually changing business and work environment. · Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks and projects. · Ability to audit detail in Payroll and Tax Software. · Knowledgeable on web-based payroll software. · Proficient with Microsoft Suite including advanced Excel skills and Access experience helpful.
