Description
We are seeking a Purchasing Agent to join our team in the automotive industry located in Brandon, South Dakota. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity and is integral to our operations, requiring a detail-oriented individual with strong negotiation skills and a comprehensive understanding of buying processes and supplier management.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure total supplier performance aligning with business objectives in cost reduction, working capital, delivery, quality, and technology collaboration.
• Drive material cost reduction activities that support the business gross margin requirements and savings expectations.
• Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and manage supplier performance improvement based on these metrics.
• Promote continuous improvement of systems, processes, and tools to meet objectives.
• Negotiate supplier contracts ensuring supply security and competitive value.
• Foster the use and application of Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma continuous improvement tools as part of the culture.
• Collaborate with leadership team members in executing initiatives and projects to implement the strategic business plan.
• Lead efforts to ensure dual sources of supply and minimize overall risk.
• Work with corporate Commodity Managers to leverage spend.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees and suppliers.
• Utilize ERP Solutions, Microsoft Excel, About Time for efficient operation and management.
Requirements • Strong proficiency in ERP Solutions is expected.
• Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with the 'About Time' management software.
• Previous experience as a Buyer in the automotive industry.
• Deep understanding of buying processes and strategies.
• Knowledge and experience in Component Selection.
• Experience in conducting Annual Inventory in an automotive setting.
• Proven track record in Purchasing Management.
