PURCHASING MANAGER - International Manufacturing Company in North Gwinnett

My client, an international manufacturer located in Braselton, is searching for a Purchasing Manager to join their team for an immediate, direct-hire opportunity. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for directing and coordinating purchasing and distribution of commercial products throughout the organization. The Purchasing Manager will build relationships with external vendors to ensure the timely purchasing of materials, ensuring balanced warehouse inventory, and accounting for international lead times on ordered products. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for leading, training, and managing a small team in Braselton.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures products purchased are received timely.

  • Prepare instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.

  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and change notices.

  • Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability.

  • Review purchase orders and contracts for conformance to company policy.

  • Analyze and recommend disposal of surplus materials.

  • Balance inventory between warehouses.

  • Initiate modifications of products with less cost and increased efficiency.

  • Coordinate with accounting department to insure that purchasing budget is controlled.

  • Organize and maintain important documents such as; agreements and contracts, shipping documentation, and governmental documents.

  • Plan and direct flow of air and surface traffic moving from overseas and domestic destinations.

  • Examine invoices and shipping manifests for conformity to tariff and customs regulations.

  • In coordination with operations, contact customs officials to effect release of incoming freight and resolve custom delays.

  • Prepare reports of transactions to facilitate billing of shippers and foreign carriers.

  • Negotiate price and service requirements with customs broker.

  • Create tool purchasing program in ERP, coordinating with data processing and operations.

  • Modify parts purchasing program to increase efficiency.

  • Negotiate all company requirements (cost, product quality, and delivery) with potential vendors on pre purchasing affordable time frame.

  • Provide necessary information to support company's international vendor research and development.

  • Continuous examination of established vendor’s quality performance.

  • Update information regarding international trade issues or regulation changes.

  • Respond timely to protective and corrective actions due to legal implications of the company’s day to day marine transportation movements.

  • Follow the requirements of federal, state, and local laws; U.S. Department of Transportation and other Federal Agency regulations.

  • Support sales department to provide export documentation with in-depth information and practical paperwork.

    Requirements

  • Bachelors degree from four-year college or university

  • 3+ years experience in purchasing and importing manufactured goods

  • Previous international purchasing experience required

  • Advanced Excel skills required

  • Previous ERP system experience required

  • Previous supervisory experience required

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and social skills
