Robert Half is working with a local non-profit organization who is in search of a skilled Controller to join the team in Bremerton, Washington. In this role, you will work closely with various department heads to review and develop budgeting and accounting information. You will also be responsible for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of all accounting systems. This role involves adhering to professional ethics and conduct, participating in fiscal reviews, and ensuring compliance with fiscal grant requirements. Responsibilities:
• Coordinate closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director for assignments.
• Develop and review budgeting and accounting information in collaboration with department management.
• Monitor the integrity and accuracy of all accounting systems, ensuring adherence to professional ethics and conduct.
• Participate in fiscal reviews conducted by various funders.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures files for the fiscal division, including a calendar and timeline of billing cycles and fiscal deliverables.
• Administer the grant billing function and ensure the agency complies with fiscal grant requirements.
• Oversee agency and funder audits and monitoring, ensuring timely completion of the agency audit and timely submission of the 990.
• Oversee Fiscal operations including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
• Supervise the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to selected funding sources and government tax agencies.
• Manage the bank reconciliation process in the timeframe required by the CFO.
• Ensure compliance with AICPA and GAAP with approval from Fiscal Director.
• Develop necessary quality control procedures to ensure system integrity and accuracy.
• Supervise the reconciliation of all payroll/benefit’s general ledger accounts monthly.
• Coordinate with other departments to review and discuss information submitted to accounting by program staff.
• Perform General Ledger Fund Accounting functions for designated program grants/contracts including fund billings.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $95,000-$120,000. Benefits offered for this position include 100% employer-paid MDV insurance, Employer-paid STD/LTD/Life Insurances, 401k with a 6% match, PTO, Sick Leave and Paid Holidays! There is also the possibility for 1 day per week WFH after settling into the role (at discretion of leadership).
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related required. CPA/CMA preferred
• Experience in Non-profit Accounting required
• Proficiency in Fund Accounting and Grant Accounting
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
• Expertise in the full cycle of Accounting Functions
• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Payroll.
• Knowledge and understanding of Auditing procedures
• Familiarity with Budget Processes
• Ability to produce clear and accurate Financial Reporting
• Understanding and ability to apply Accounting procedures in work tasks
