Description Robert Half is seeking an ambitious Controller to become a vital part at an esteemed services company. In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will be planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. The permanent Controller position is situated in the High Bridge, New Jersey area.
Key responsibilities
Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations
Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible Requirements - Vow to meet business deadlines
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
Finance experience
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
Skilled in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Detailed and have the ability work independently
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
