Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interim Project Accountant to join our construction team. This role is crucial in ensuring the financial health and success of our construction projects. The Interim Project Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of our construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, preferably within the construction industry, and possess excellent analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Budgeting: Collaborate with project managers to develop accurate project budgets, ensuring alignment with company financial goals and project objectives.

  • Financial Analysis: Conduct regular financial analysis to monitor project performance against budgeted costs and revenue projections. Identify areas for cost savings and revenue enhancement.

  • Cost Control: Implement effective cost control measures to minimize project expenses while maintaining quality standards. Review and approve project expenses and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.

  • Cash Flow Management: Manage project cash flow by forecasting cash requirements and coordinating with finance team to ensure adequate funding is available for project needs.

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for project stakeholders, including management, investors, and regulatory agencies. Communicate financial results and project status effectively to stakeholders.

  • Variance Analysis: Conduct variance analysis to explain differences between budgeted and actual costs, revenue, and profitability. Develop strategies to address variances and mitigate risks.

  • Contract Management: Review project contracts and agreements to ensure financial terms are favorable and accurately reflected in project budgets and financial reports.

  • Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation, explanations, and support to auditors. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency within the project accounting function. Implement best practices to enhance financial controls and reporting accuracy.
