Robert Half Staff Accountant in Brooklyn, New York

Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in the non-profit sector, located in Brooklyn, New York. This role involves supporting our accounting and fiscal departments, primarily working remotely to assist with various financial tasks. This role offers a long-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and examination of accounting records, financial statements, taxes, and other financial reports

• Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded

• Utilize accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP to manage financial data

• Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timeliness and accuracy

• Assist in the month-end close process, including journal entries and general ledger duties

• Support with audit requests and preparation of cash reports

• Maintain financial security by adhering to internal controls

• Assist in vouchering, pulling audit requests, cash reports, recs, and other fiscal documents

• Provide support to team members as needed in all areas of finance and accounting. Requirements • Must possess expertise in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Proficiency in performing Bank Reconciliations is essential

• Knowledge of General Ledger maintenance and management is required

• Experience with Journal Entries and Month End Close is imperative

• Familiarity with accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP is necessary

• Demonstrated ability to work in a non-profit environment is beneficial

• Proven track record in the role of Staff Accountant or a similar role is desired

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities are necessary

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is preferred

• Relevant certification, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), is advantageous.
