Description Robert Half has an opening for an ambitious Controller for a reputable company in the Hospitality industry. This is a leadership role with responsibility over an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will be planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. What you get to do every day
Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required
Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners Requirements
Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
Great attention to detail
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Sound written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Top notch analytical, quantitative and social skills
Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
Foundational knowledge in Daily Cash Receipts
Strong familiarity with POS (point of sale)
Month end closings experience required
Financial Statement experience highly desired
Solid understanding of general ledger
