Description
Our client is a well-established law firm in Buffalo, NY. They are seeking a Paralegal for their team. The paralegal assists and provides a range of legal support and administration to lawyers and other legal professionals. Under general supervision, duties mainly consist of drafting legal documents including motions, discovery responses, correspondence, reviewing and analyzing case files, etc.
Responsibilities:
Prepares pleadings and letters.
Analyzes files for documents, discoverable and in response to demands. If missing, contacts client for documents relative to case.
Reviews discovery and process authorizations for medical and employment records.
Drafts discovery responses and sends to attorney for review
Reviews and summarizes medical records.
Contacts clients, doctors and expert witnesses on substantive issues.
Arranges and set ups Independent Medical Examinations.
Drafts simple motions, discovery demands and notices to produce in accordance with state and/or federal rules. Forwards to attorney for final review and signature.
Prepares subpoenas and arranges for service of process.
·Performs federal and state electronic court filings (E-filings).
·Monitors evidence gathering.
Organizes exhibits.
Assists with appellate brief and record on appeal preparation.
Performs other assigned billable tasks related to file management, organization and analysis.
Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Associate degree in paralegal studies or paralegal certification is required.
Minimum of three years of experience as a litigation paralegal
