Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Calverton, New York

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in CALVERTON, New York. This role involves a variety of responsibilities within the payroll industry where you will be expected to handle various tasks related to processing and maintaining accurate payroll records.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure accurate and efficient processing of payroll transactions including wages, benefits, and taxes.

• Use understanding of Prevailing Wage rules to ensure compliance in payroll processing.

• Handle certified payroll reporting and public works compliance tasks.

• Use payroll software like Paylocity, LCP Tracker, Elations, Points North for various payroll processes.

• Monitor and report employee hours and handle benefits via prevailing wage.

• Handle payroll for a mid-sized team, ensuring all details are accurate and up to date.

• Address and resolve any payroll-related inquiries or issues in a timely and professional manner.

• Maintain, update, and organize employee payroll records.

• Ensure all payroll activities adhere to state and federal regulations.

• Stay updated with current technologies, trends, and best practices in payroll processing. Requirements • Possession of a minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll management or a related field.

• Proficiency in using Paylocity software.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Certified Payroll practices.

• Familiarity with Benefit Functions, including understanding the intricacies of employee benefits and how they affect payroll.

• Understanding and experience with Prevailing Wage calculations.

• Possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.

• High degree of professionalism and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.

• Familiarity with labor laws and regulations related to payroll.

• Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field would be advantageous.

• Certification as a Payroll Professional (CPP) would be beneficial.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems related to payroll.
