Plant Controller
A client of ours is looking for a Plant Controller for a contract role. The Plant Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the plant, including cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, inventory management, and financial reporting. This role is critical in ensuring the financial integrity of the plant's operations and will work closely with plant management to drive cost efficiency and improve profitability.
Responsibilities of Plant Controller
Prepare, analyze, and present accurate and timely financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Oversee all cost accounting activities, including the analysis of product costs, standard costing, variance analysis, and cost control initiatives.
Lead the annual budgeting process, including setting financial targets, developing budgets, and preparing forecasts to guide decision-making.
Monitor and control inventory levels, ensuring accurate inventory valuation, and conducting regular audits to minimize discrepancies and losses.
Provide detailed financial analysis to support decision-making, including ROI analysis, make-or-buy decisions, and capital expenditure evaluations.
Develop and maintain strong internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with plant management to identify cost-saving opportunities, improve operational efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Lead and mentor the plant's finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and professional growth.
Requirements
Skills/Qualifications of Plant Controller
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification is preferred.
5+ years of relevant experience in the manufacturing industry.
Proven proficiency in cost accounting and inventory management.
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills are required
Strong ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
Experience working with financial regulations and standards.
Strong communication skills with the ability to lead and influence at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated proficiency in financial software packages and Microsoft Office Suite – particularly strong in Excel.
