Responsibilities of the Property Accountant include preparing and consolidating financial statements, analyzing and reconciling accounts, analyzing cash flow, and providing full-cycle general ledger accounting for a portfolio of properties. This Property Accountant role is based in Carlsbad, California with a company in the Real Estate sector.

Your responsibilities as the Property Accountant:

  • Apply oneself to various department-wide initiatives

  • Coordinate Ad-hoc projects as necessary

  • Allocate and prepare monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis reports for management

  • Review financial information such as trends, variance analysis, and budget to actuals analysis

  • Provide monthly accounting closure procedures and deliverables, which includes journal entries, reconciliations, reports in compliance with GAAP

  • Assist in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors

  • Uphold company standards when working with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls; while also providing support on special requests when required

  • Supply Balance Sheet account reconciliations

  • Adherence to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process

    Requirements

Requirements for the Property Accountant include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business with Accounting emphasis

  • Industry experience (property management) OR Multi-entity experience (closing books for multiple companies or entities)

  • 2-3+ years of experience

  • Strong communication and time-management ability

  • Strong Excel and Yardi system experience

  • Managing full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of over 5 properties

  • Bank reconciliations

  • Cash management

  • Revenue Recognition

  • CAM reconciliation

  • Expenses reconciliation

  • Producing multiple sets of financials

  • Property tax

  • Analysis such as Trend analysis, variance analysis, and budget to actual analysis
