A growing Medical Devices company is in need of an efficient Senior Accountant to join their team on a full-time basis in the Carlsbad, California area.

POSITION: SR. ACCOUNTANT

INDUSTRY: MEDICAL DEVICE/EQUIPMENT

COMPENSATION: $85K TO $100K

LOCATION: CARLSBAD, CA - 92008

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: FULL TIME

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Staff Accountant reports to the Controller and is responsible for general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting and financial analysis including: product and customer trends, profitability analysis and other special projects as assigned. The ability to work in a collaborative manner across various functions of the organizations is essential. This is a key role in the accounting organization with responsibility and involvement across a broad range of financial areas.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare and review monthly reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure that general ledger accounts are reconciled with resolution to reconciling items

Reconcile general ledgers, post journal entries, and assist with the preparation of financial statements

Accruals, fixed-assets, revenue recognition & variance analysis

Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents. Verify and analyze business records, transactions, and procedures

Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliation for assigned general ledger accounts and balance sheets

Prepare schedules for reviews and year-end audit for independent external auditors. Research issues, clarify information, and prepare supporting data

Prepare schedules and file sales/use and excise taxes

Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements - 5+ years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience

  • Top notch analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

  • Deep understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred

  • Skilled at time management

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively throughout all levels of the company

  • Expertise in journal entries

  • Solid understanding of general ledger

  • Strong familiarity with Adjusting Journal Entries

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Current and relevant ERP system experience

  • Familiarity with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required

  • Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
