Robert Half Assistant Controller in Carpinteria, California

Description We are offering a position for an Assistant Controller in Carpinteria, California. This role is pivotal for the smooth operation of our Finance Department and will require an individual with strong accounting and organizational skills, as well as proven management experience. The Assistant Controller will be expected to participate in all periodic Accounting and Finance functions, manage external audits, and oversee all corporate banking activities.

Responsibilities:

• Offer support for financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payables, payroll, and budget preparation.

• Implement and document internal control policies and procedures for all financial activities.

• Facilitate employee training programs and identify training needs within the department.

• Assist in the documentation and implementation of a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.

• Provide financial analysis support to Controller, CFO, and Management on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.

• Facilitate the preparation of periodic financial statements with supporting journal entries, activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.

• Ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

• Support Federal and state tax reporting requirements through coordination with external Tax Accountants and delivery of requested data and reports.

• Assist in the development of short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.

• Advise business units on and assist with implementation of accounting and budgeting policies.

• Ensure the accuracy and timely filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

• Develop documentation of and maintain knowledge of organizational procedures, federal and state regulations, and accounting standards.

• Analyze and report on benchmarks that will be used to track the company’s performance.

• Interact with external auditors and provide needed information for the annual audits.

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements. Requirements • Must hold a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.

• Proficiency in utilizing a General Ledger System.

• Experience in preparing and managing Journal Entries.

• Proven ability in conducting Account Reconciliation.

• Strong understanding of financial regulations and legislation.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field.

• Prior experience in a similar role is preferred.

• Proficiency in using financial software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically.

• High level of professionalism and ethical standards.

• Must be a team player with the ability to work independently when necessary.
