Robert Half Staff Accountant in Carrollton, Texas
Description Robert Half currently has a permanent opportunity for an experienced Staff Accountant to join their growing team. In this position, the Staff Accountant prepares journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. Throughout the monthly close, you will also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting. You will put your skills towards the development and implementation of accounting policies. Also, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This intricate position is involved in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity in the Carrollton, Texas area, at a company where effort is rewarded.
Major responsibilities
Coordinate and analyze a variety of financial data, then report it in a way that is useful and understandable
Become well-versed in month end balance sheet account reconciliations
Manage schedules for monthly payments and capital lease
Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management
Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks
Partake in various department-wide initiatives
Impromptu reporting and special projects, when requested
Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision
Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation
Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Regularly maintain and reconcile journal entries Requirements - Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics experience desired
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Knowledgeable of ERP systems
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"
