Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Cary, North Carolina

Description We are searching for a Payroll Specialist to join our team in the Government sector in Cary, North Carolina. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity. The incumbent will be responsible for processing payroll, maintaining records, and dealing with various sources of funding. Additionally, the role requires flexibility and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Handle payroll processing tasks for various levels across the department.

• Maintain accurate records of payroll, benefits, and post-payroll reporting.

• Assist in the management of state/federal funds and multiple sources of money.

• Provide backup support for code changes, federal government reporting, and understanding of payroll processes and benefits.

• Participate in various projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and multitasking abilities.

• Utilize Excel, Word, and Oracle for various tasks and duties.

• Help in the transition to semi-monthly payroll and assist in upgrading Oracle.

• Actively engage in problem-solving and firefighting, ensuring departmental efficiency.

• Practice proactive communication, asking questions when necessary, and actively listen to instructions and feedback.

• Contribute to the team's efforts in managing workload, especially during periods of staff shortage. Requirements • Proficiency in using Accounting Software Systems

• Experience in ADP - Financial Services

• Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now

• Knowledge of Ceridian and Dayforce systems

• Understanding of 401k - RRSP Administration procedures

• Experience with About Time software

• Ability to handle various Accounting Functions

• Experience in Auditing

• Ability to manage Benefit Functions

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle confidential information

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred

• Relevant experience in a government payroll department would be advantageous

• Understanding of government payroll regulations and procedures

• Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound judgments

• High level of integrity and professionalism.
