You could take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department at a successful company, through Robert Half Finance's new Controller opportunity. The full-time Controller position is situated in the Chantilly, Virginia area. The ideal candidate for this position can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. In this role, it will be critical for you to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. What you get to do every day
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Review deliverables of self and team to align with client expectations
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Occasionally perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities
Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll Requirements - Be detailed, flexible, and organized
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
Comprehensive knowledge of analysis
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
Remarkable analytical, quantitative and social skills
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
Ability to meet deadlines
Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
