Robert Half Staff Accountant in Charleston, South Carolina

Description

We are looking for a diligent Staff Accountant to join our team in the non-profit sector, based in Charleston, South Carolina. The Staff Accountant will be crucial in managing both Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), performing bank reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, and other accounting functions.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the processing of all accounts payable and receivable transactions.

• Regularly perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.

• Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and up-to-date.

• Prepare and post monthly journal entries.

• Conduct thorough month-end close procedures.

• Utilize Financial Edge software for various accounting tasks.

• Monitor customer accounts and take necessary action in case of discrepancies.

• Process customer credit applications efficiently and accurately.

• Maintain records of customer credit information.

Requirements • Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related field

• Proven proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management

• Demonstrable experience in handling bank reconciliations

• Solid understanding and experience with General Ledger management

• Proficiency in Journal Entries preparation and management

• Experience in Month End Close procedures and protocols

• Familiarity with Financial Edge software is a must

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• High attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

• Willingness to continuously improve and learn new skills

• Understanding of non-profit accounting principles and regulations is preferred.
