This is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity in the Charleston, South Carolina area, at a company where effort is rewarded. This position is for candidates with the ability to prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation and be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. This role is a great opportunity for someone who wants to participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. To be preferred for this position, you will need to have a complex understanding Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets.
Your responsibilities in this role
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Maintain depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks
Coordinate and analyze a variety of financial data, then report it in a way that is useful and understandable
Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls while ensuring that accounting procedures comply with GAAP
Upon request, take part in special projects and impromptu reporting
Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries
In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts
Organize schedules for monthly payments and capital lease
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
Perform the month end close and produce journal entries under minimal supervision
Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Manage intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation Requirements
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Solid understanding of leases
Expertise in account analysis
2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Experience with ERP systems
Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
