Robert Half Staff Accountant in Charleston, South Carolina
Description There is a terrific permanent position available for an experienced Staff Accountant at Robert Half. In this position, the Staff Accountant prepares journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, various aspects of internal reporting will be under your responsibility. You will put your skills towards the development and implementation of accounting policies. Also, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very complex as it plays a part in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Coordinate and analyze a variety of financial data, then report it in a way that is useful and understandable
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation
Perform the month end close and produce journal entries under minimal supervision
Maintain fixed asset ledgers, depreciation, and reconciliation
Regular maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Prepare monthly financial close workbooks to support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process
Organize schedules for monthly payments and capital lease
Thorough experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations Requirements
Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Strong analytical capabilities and discernment
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Experience with ERP systems
Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Deep understanding of Financial Statement
Comprehensive knowledge of Payroll Taxes
Prepare Journal Entries experience preferred
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
