Robert Half Staff Accountant in Charleston, South Carolina
Description We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team situated in Charleston, South Carolina. As a part of the Printing/Publishing industry, you will take on a significant role in handling our accounting duties. Your responsibilities will include a wide range of tasks from customer credit application processing to maintaining customer credit records.
Responsibilities:
• Carry out thorough research and analysis on various tax issues, including federal income tax, state and local, sales and use tax, and international tax
• Conduct cross-function meetings with groups within the Finance department to gather necessary information for tax processes and to assist with their processes
• Reconcile and manage tax accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
• Prepare work papers and documentation for income tax provision for consolidated financial statement purposes
• Administer the corporate-wide credit card and expense system, ensuring expenses are recorded on time and employee reimbursements are processed
• Audit employee expense reports for completeness and compliance with corporate policies
• Provide support to the Finance Department through cross-training of departmental duties
• Prepare indirect tax compliance work papers and filings, including franchise tax, business licenses, property tax, and sales and use tax returns
• Back up the Accounts Payable processor when required
• Assist with additional responsibilities as needed Requirements
• Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a staff accountant role.
• Demonstrable expertise in Financial Analysis is required.
• Proficient understanding of tax regulations, particularly corporate tax, is essential.
• Advanced knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of the printing and publishing industry is preferred.
