Robert Half Controller in Charlotte, North Carolina
Description We are in the market for a Controller who will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina, to join our team in the sports supplements wholesale distribution industry. This role is ideal for someone who is adept at overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department. The Controller will also be responsible for managing fiscal period closes, audits, and driving process improvements. This is a contract position that offers a dynamic work environment.
Responsibilities:
• Manage all aspects of the accounting team including the establishment and prioritization of assignments and handling of escalated customer/vendor relations issues, GL coding decisions, etc.
• Ensure journal expense entries comply with GAAP
• Guarantee revenue and receivables are booked in accordance with GAAP
• Oversee customer bad debt/collections/write offs and related accounting
• Support suppliers and internal business with respect to questions on expenses and payments
• Produce monthly financial reports
• Assist in budget and forecast preparation
• Act as the Day to Day banking liaison
• Process bank and balance sheet account reconciliations
• Control expenses and accounts payable spend and provide a system of cost reporting
• Manage fixed assets ledger and capital expenditures
• Oversee audit process and related financial controls
• Provide daily/weekly reporting on key financial performance metrics.
• Perform other accounting-related and management duties as assigned. Requirements • Proven experience in a Controller role or similar position.
• Strong knowledge of Accounting Software Systems.
• Familiarity with DCAA regulations.
• Experience with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions.
• Proficient in handling Accounting Functions including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Practical knowledge of Auditing procedures.
• Experience in managing Budget Processes.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferable.
• Prior experience in a Public Company would be beneficial.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne software is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Budgeting - Forecasting.
• Familiarity with Business Banking operations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership abilities and team management skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
